Wine and Alcoholic Drinks in Netherlands

United Kingdom: Wine

Alcohol in Holland is consumed before dinner and is not generally enjoyed with the meals except in a few special occasions. Dutch white wine is quite popular in Netherlands. The white wines are produced in good amount at the Slavante and Apostelhoeve wine yard in the southern part of Holland. A few other good Dutch liqueurs are Curaçao and Triple Sec, apart from these; other popular wines of the world are also served in the bars, which are open all throughout the day.
Holland has a tradition of gin drinking. Netherlands is popular for Jenever, a straight gin which has two varieties, ‘oude’ that is old gin and ‘jonge’ which is young. The difference in the variety of gin is not in their age but in their flavor and color. There are a good number of cafes and bars in Netherlands, which serve gin, and there is no time restriction in these establishments.
