Coffee is extremely popular in Netherlands and the Dutch like to drink the coffee freshly brewed. People of Holland prefer to drink strong coffee and accompany it with their meals. In addition to a number of coffee shops, coffee is served everywhere in Netherlands, be it home, office, schools or shops. If tourists wish to order a coffee with milk at the coffee shop, it is advisable to go for koffie verkeerd which is the lighter version and similar to French café au lait.
Tea is also a preferred drink in Netherlands but is not so popular as coffee. Tea is served without milk and is quite watery. People generally prefer to drink tea with their meal. There is a strong tradition in Holland’s workplaces to take tea breaks both in the morning and afternoon. There are a number of teahouses that serve a good quality of tea along with other snacks.
